The vendor has supplied the following detail :This 1965 Mini Cooper S was bought in 2004 to develop into a car capable of competing in the iconic “Rallye Monte-Carlo Historique”. After a series of UK ‘training’ events, and one unsuccessful attempt at the RMCH in 2011 (#319 ex Glasgow), the car successfully completed the RMCH in 2013 (#129 ex Barcelona) and 2014 (#104 ex Monte-Carlo). The car was then totally rebuilt and reconfigured during 2014/15 to again successfully complete the RMCH in 2016 (#275 ex Reims) and 2018 (#271 ex Monte-Carlo). It has since been retired from competition; taken to static shows annually, but otherwise dry stored. This Mini is presented in superb condition throughout. It was restored, and has been maintained by a talented team keen to incorporate adaptations expected by scrutineers in the modern-era, while keeping the car looking and performing much as the BMC Works Team campaigned its cars in the late 1960’s. Everything non-standard about this Mini has been unobtrusively implemented with safety, reliability, and heritage in mind.

DETAILS OF RESTORATION and SPECIFICATIONS Body Shell Chemically-dipped by Prostrip Ltd, Nottingham in June 2014 prior to complete restoration using Heritage panels as necessary. Certain improvements were made:- Strengthening of crossmember for increased seats security- Pads added for strength before roll cage fitment- Jacking sockets welded into sills to enable use of external ‘axle stands’- Boot board brackets raised to accommodate a 4.5” spare wheel- Boot lid adapted for ‘MGB style’, gear selector operated reversing lights- Bonnet hinges adapted to allow bonnet to be opened and/or removed. The shell was then taken back to Prostrip in February 2015 for re-dipping and e-coating / epoxy priming before being returned for 2pk painting in
Almond Green and Old English White. Engine Rebuilt by specialists, Southam Mini & Metro Centre and last refreshed by them in October 2014 (c.38,500 miles - new main bearings, conrod bearings, valve springs, piston rings and oil pump). Current specification:- Block bored to +020” (giving 1293 cc capacity)- Camshaft: Kent MD286- Crankshaft: Arrow 81.3- Swiftune retro road Flywheel and Backplate- Carburettors: Twin HS4 1.5” SUs- Maniflow centre exit exhaust- Oil cooler Servicing is facilitated by the quick release grille, flexible hoses to the Brake Servo, extension to the Clutch Slave Cylinder bleed nipple and the accessible Fuel Filter. Key elements:- Fully documented, bespoke loom with in-cabin Battery Master Switch [p8]- Loom protected by 16 Fuses and 7 Relays, all accessible internally - Traditional centre console retained, but with Stack fuel and voltage gauges- Driver’s panel: fitted with Stack tachometer, oil pressure and water temperature gauges plus 12 volt socket. Suspension- Rubber cone springs (Red spot)- HiLo ride height adjusters front and rear- Minilite wheels (4.5 x 10”) - new at c.44,500 miles- Yokohama A008 Tyres (165/70/R10) - new as per above. Safety Matters- Fuel line, brake line and battery cable secured internally- Safety Devices 6 point bolt-in roll cage with ‘diagonal’ and harness bar- Motordrive competition seats with 5 point harnesses- Lifeline plumbed-in Zero 360 Stored Pressure Electric 2.25kg fire extinguisher (6x outlets to engine bay, cabin and boot).
