ESTIMATE £48500 - £51250. Chassis number 1S51039. This Manual Transmission example was dispatched to the supplying dealership A.J.BEAL of EXETER on February 15th 1972 and registered as YFJ400K. We can see from the history file that the car was exported to South Africa and registered there on December 18th 1974 to C.H. Talbot and Co. a prominent historical pharmacy and optician business located in Dundee, KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa. It appears that the car returned to the UK and re imported during October 1989 and obtaining its first UK MOT test certificate on December 20th 1989 when the cars mileage was recorded at 22590 miles. The name on the import certificate appears on a copy of an early registration document with the year related registration of DRJ845L. The car appears to have quickly changed hands as per the registration document on February 17th 1990 to a gentleman in Wigan through BROOKLANDS of ADLINGTON. This gentleman appears to have changed address to Warrington Cheshire as evidenced by the registration document and was to remain the registered keeper until February 19th 2018 for a total of 28 years. The registration document then shows the next owner a lady from Exeter who kept the car until our vendor and registered keeper took over ownership in September 2020 after he purchased the car from a prestigious Southern based Auction House. This Auction House described the car as "an originally supplied UK right hand drive manual transmission V12 2+2 which was exported to South Africa and repatriated in 1990" which matches our research . They also stated "incredibly showing a mere 22,663 miles (only 20 or so miles in the last 20 years)". Based on this our vendor believes the mileage to be correct. During his custodianship he has rebuilt the front suspension, fitted new brakes and new tyres and fitted wire wheels, along with LED headlamps, new grille and fitted a new pattern part bonnet. The car then went for a full specialist repaint in the original colour. In total he estimates he spent in the region of £30k on the car during his time.
